Chapter Activity: “Spot the Trick!”

Instructions:
You’ll see five short fake messages in your LMS.
For each, identify which psychological trick it uses and how you would respond.

Example 1:

“Congratulations! You’re our 1000th visitor. Click here to win!”
→ Trick: Greed
→ Safe Response: Ignore or delete; don’t click links.

Example 2:

“I’m your teacher. Send your ID so I can fix your grade.”
→ Trick: Authority
→ Safe Response: Verify in person; never share ID info online.

Students answer all five cases.
