“The cloud” is not a mystical place in the sky — it’s a collection of huge computers (servers) connected to the Internet.
When you save photos to Google Drive or files to Dropbox, they live on those servers instead of your laptop.

Benefits: you can reach your files anywhere, on any device.
Risks: someone else is hosting your data, so you must trust their security and your password discipline.
